Sanjivani

I was born & brought up in a very good, cultured family.
Most of the wishes I had, came to my way fortunately easily.
Let it be getting an admission to a college, grabbing a job with handsome salary, wife, 2 children or even a car for that matter.
Everything luxurious..!!! Is this the only I had dreamt of ???

The mind is like a half-empty glass, always desires something more..!
What else is remained..??
One day while being alone, all of a sudden I realized that I am not skillful in any of the arts...!!!
Husshhhh....! Got happy that atlast I got something that might fill up my glass of empty mind...!
I started recollecting that 'tabla' was one of the instruments which I was passionate about in childhood..!

I had forgotten it while running a rat-race in life. I did not want my son to make the same mistake..!
I joined a Tabla class to accompany Sid (Siddharth, my elder son).
His initial disliking, crying would have made me nervous.
But I was firm on my decision. He started getting an interest once he learnt about the basic beats, rythm.
Swapnali (my niece) received a harmonium as a gift on her 10th birthday. Dada (my elder brother) thought why not to have a Tabla
for Sid. He did it as per his wish and Sid overjoyed after getting a Tabla on his 6th birthday.
It was like a treat for me too, as I was about to get a chance to play Tabla at my own time.

I searched for the cds on Tabla training, but could not found the worth one. Did some net-surfing and found good clips on youtube.
With the help of these clips and the basic beats, I started playing a Tabla, getting my empty mind filled up with joy..!

Whenever I feel down, dipressed, nervous this art works really like a Sanjivani for me..!!!
Thanks Dada..!

Rajgadh Trip 10April2010

On sat 10 april 10, I was relaxing just like any other weekend. Dada asked me if I was ready to come for Rajgadh-Trek.
Relaxed minded I was about to say 'No' when Siddharth came runnig to me and forced my 'No' into 'Yes'.
I thought why not to take Mahesh and Prashant with their kids to Rajgadh. Prashant was ready as usual.
After taking the necessary things we started off for the journey @ 5pm by car. We reached the 'paytha' of Rajgadh @7pm.
A group of 50+ people including kids, young people and the older ones with the sacks on their back,
the torch in hand and a strong will in their hearts started off with a nara 'Jay bhavani, Jay Shivaji'.
It was getting dark but there were seven street-lights on the path towards the top which came to our surprise.
Siddharth and Nishi were the youngest of the group. After a walk of around couple of hours,
Siddharth started getting a sleep and I was pushing him as much I could saying that the quilla is not far away.
The case was nothing different for few of others too.
The leaders of the 'Girikujan Club' were taking a halt at the regular and required interval.
We learnt lot of things from this trek.
The first of them was when we get tired we should bow down keeping our hands on the knee.
After a relaxation, we moved on. The leaders asked us not to take a support of the railings as some of them were loose.
Since we could not imagine how much we have to walk it was better in one way.. "kadhi kadhi adhnyanat sukh asate"..!

It was 10:30pm when we reached to Padmavati temple. Our stay was in a house near to the temple. We had the dinner and
a deep sleep. A cool breeze was continuously flowing. Good that we had brought the proper warm clothes.
Next day, at 5:30 am the leader shouted "A...utha ...chala...". None of us could have dared to sleep further.
In the morning we could see a sunrise just behind the Purandar. After having a tea and snacks, we stood in a line
listening to the leader for the next plan. We saw a samadhi of 'Saibai', Rajanchi pahili patni.
Personally I felt very bad after seeing its condition. Being a Maharani, the samadhi should have got a royal treatment.
Anyway. The next task was to get on to the 'Baale Killa', a peak of the fort. It is like a crown of the king.
It is a steep cliff. The total height of Rajgadh is 1395 meters.
After an hour of walk, we were at the entrance door of 'Baale Killa'. All had a photo-session.
Maharaj had killed AfzalKhan and brought his head to Rajgadh after Jijaus' wish.
The head was burried under the entrance door. From top of 'Baale Killa' we could see an awesome view of Sahyadri'
ranges. After seeing Sinhgad, Torana, Rajgadh, Lingana we could imagine the kind of efforts Maharaj must had taken to
rule these. One could see the 'Budhla machi' and 'Zunjar machi' of Torana. The next plan was to move to 'Suvela machi'.
The point of attaction here is a naturally happened big hole into the hill range. All of us (50+ ..!!!) could sit into
it..! It is called as 'nedha'. I was just imagining how beautiful it would be in the monsoon..!!!
On spending a half an hour, we returned back to the house at Padmavati machi. We had a masssst 'pithale-chapati' lunch
prepared by a the leaders. After a nap of 2-3 hours. The next task was to make the gadh clean.
All of us started collecting the garbage collecting the plastic bottles, dung etc. on the gadh and started
burning it. This was a second thing we learnt.
We started off moving down from the Rajgadh. It was then when we realized how far we had climbed up.
Nishi and Siddharth really had a tough time but they survived in really a creditable way...!
During the entire trek Nishi had become everyone's 'buddy'. Getting down from the Rajgadh is bit more difficult
than getting up on it. It requires you to make your face towards the 'killa' and then get down. We learnt the
third thing over here. We were at paytha at around 7:30pm and home at 10pm.

It is really 'Gadancha Raja - Rajancha Gad, Rajgadh...'
